Huawei phone with Nokia 9.1 PureView-like camera design in the works, patent suggests

After the P40 Pro Plus, Huawei appears to be working on another penta-camera phone, according to a patent filed with the Chinese State Intellectual Property Office, as discovered by 91mobiles. The patent shows a unique new rear camera design that shows a hexagonal shaped module housing up to five camera sensors and an LED flash. The design looks somewhat like the Nokia 9.1 PureView from HMD Global which was announced in 2019. The patent shows several versions of the hexagonal camera layout, one with the camera module placed in the upper left corner, another aligned in the center. and one at the top right. Considering how many cameras are possible on this Huawei phone, it could be launched as a flagship phone in the near future, but that’s not a certainty.

Additionally, the patent images show that the phone has a volume rocker and a power button on the right spine. The USB Type-C port and what the SIM tray looks like at the bottom. The front of the phone offers a notch-less, bezel-less display, which means it could have a pop-up selfie camera. The secondary microphone for noise cancellation and what looks like an IR blaster are on top. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the Huawei patent at this time and it remains to be seen if Huawei would actually release a phone with such a design.

Another Huawei patent recently revealed a phone with a Redmi Note 9 type camera on the back without the fingerprint sensor. it was deposited at Russian Federal Institute of Industrial Property. It shows a Center-aligned rectangular camera module at the back that appears to house four cameras, two smaller sensors, and an LED flash. The phone has a pill-shaped perforation design, something similar to the Huawei Nova 6. It’s possible that it belongs to the company’s Nova series.
